JAKARTA - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) introduced the National Knowledge Management Information System (SIMP@N), a platform designed to manage government information.

BRIN stated that this platform is an implementation of the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE). Developed by the Directorate of Repository, Multimedia, and Scientific Issuance of BRIN, this platform will store all SPBE data.

In addition, SIMP@N is also designed to manage and distribute all SPBE knowledge openly and integrated. By creating SIMP@N, BRIN seeks to encourage innovation of digital-based public services.

"Government digital transformation is not only a matter of building information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, but how to make information and knowledge the main fuel in decision making, service innovation, and the preparation of public policies," said Deputy Secretary for Research and Innovation Facilitation BRIN Widhya Yusi Samirahayu, quoted on Monday, August 4.

Director of Repository, Multimedia, and BRIN Scientific Issuance, Hendro Subagyo, explained that this platform is important because it is in accordance with the national digital transformation strategy. As noted in the 2020-2024 National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN), digital services to data disclosure need to be prioritized.

"Digital transformations not only require technology, but also documented, accessible, and cross-agencyed institutional knowledge," explained Hendro.

Hendro also emphasized the importance of documentation of knowledge built by Big Data Managers (PBD) to support the e-government era. According to him, "the future digital government is a knowledge-based government."

SIMP@N is expected to be an inclusive and open national learning space for anyone who wants to learn from other agencies. In line with this hope, BRIN invites all government agencies, universities, development partners, and the digital community to play an active role in integrating content on this platform.
