MBG Ads Using AI Are In The Spotlight, Komdigi: There's Nothing Wrong, Part Of Creativity

JAKARTA - Advertising for Free Nutrition Food (MBG) uploaded by the government seems to have drawn various comments from netizens, because it uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

Some netizens saw some irregularities in the animated video, such as the fingers that appeared and disappeared, as well as places to eat that were irregular or swayed.

However, responding to the many criticisms of netizens, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, said that there was nothing wrong with the use of AI, because, according to him, it was a form of creativity.

"That's part of creativity. I don't think there's anything wrong with using Artificial Intelligence for creative work," Nezar told the media when met at the Komdigi Office on Monday, February 17.

In addition, he also emphasized that AI is currently widely used in other creative industries, such as in advertising, making animated films, and much more.

"That's just one form made by Komdigi, and we also use various other Tools, including those produced by creativity without AI," he said.

The advertisements that appeared on social media were criticized by netizens for killing the creative industry, especially in the field of animated arts.

"A class of Ministers/ministers, only product campaigns using AI, don't expect the animation/creative industry to progress. The government/Ministry doesn't support it," commented one of the Instagram accounts @zarnuugrafasaputra in a post by Reel Menkomdigi Meutya Hafid.

Meanwhile, another Instagram account @fnoerizz also commented "ACCORDING TO HIS FISCAL BUDGET, HE COULDN'T HiRE ANIMATORS".

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Trade, Nezar, did not provide any comments regarding the reasons for using the Komdigi were due to the current budget efficiency.
