JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Wameekraf/Wakabekraf) Irene Umar appreciated the opening of the 2025 Global Game Jam (GGJ) and supported locally made games to go global.

"This is something very special. I know exactly what kind of creative fighters who have intelligence towards games can foster greater enthusiasm to make local game platforms more well known," said Wamenekraf Irene in a press statement received, Friday (24/1).

Deputy Minister Irene said that it was no longer her time to view games as a time wasting activity, in fact, today the game market, especially made locally, must be encouraged to go global.

During his working visit, Wamenekraf Irene was accompanied by the Head of the Marketing and Commercialization Sub-Directorate for the Kemenekraf Game, Iman Argiyono. Wamenekraf Irene said that Indonesia was always seen as a very large market for the development of games in the future. Local games must begin to be created so that the ecosystem grows and becomes stronger in terms of creativity and innovation without limits.

The Ministry of Creative Economy strongly supports game creative sub-sectors with the placement of corner games at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and the pleasant experience of playing PlayStation when they are guests at Artotel which is an alternative choice during holidays.

"Playing games can train focus. It's time for us to be able to showcase for local games so that many people want to play games. The 2025 Global Game will be an exciting joint event to share ideas about games that will be made prototypes and the regeneration of creative talents from the regions will develop. From here, the creative economy grows and can be the driving force of the nation," added Wamenekraf Irene.

GGJ is a global scale annual event that brings together game developers from various backgrounds to create games in a limited time of 48 hours. Participants will form a team with the specified theme.

The series of events started from matchmaking until the end of the prototyping. This year, GGJ is held in 12 cities, including Bogor.

GGJ 2025 is an event such as a hackathon to find potential developer games and open up opportunities for developing local games in Bogor.

The participants will collaborate to exchange knowledge and experience related to local games and have to make games in a short time according to the theme carried this year, namely BUBBLE.

At the moment of opening GGJ, a catalog or book handover was also carried out regarding the potential of local games that would open a sub-sector of the creative economy, especially game developers, to produce quality games.

Rispiaga as Head of the West Java Province Tourism Industry said it was hoped that communities or participants participating in the 2025 Global Game could be enthusiastic after getting new insight from the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy who is experienced in developing local games.

"This is a form of activation with the pentahelix concept to develop the game industry in Indonesia. Moreover, this event was held at the Bogor Creative Center which is also managed directly by the community so that all parties can collaborate to expand the network and gain valuable experience," he said.
