Sony Brings Apple Music To PS5, A Challenge For Spotify

JAKARTA - Apple Music is rumored to have arrived on Sony's new game console, PlayStation 5. After a Reddit user shared his findings recently.

The Reddit user claims to see an option to download the Apple Music app to their PS5. "Since when did this happen? (I was) creating a new account on my PS5 and was about to connect my Spotify, but then I saw this (Apple Music)," he said.

The option apparently appeared after they created a new account and tried to link it with Spotify. Apparently the app is not working, a Reddit user also shared a photo of a message saying, “This app is only playable on PS4.”

According to Eurogamer quoted from Pocket Lint, Friday, October 15, it is a standard error message when the application is not available. Reddit users and Eurogamers may have taken a peek at something Sony and Apple are working on.

After all, the two companies recently teamed up on the promotion of Apple TV Plus for PS5 owners, so there seems to be a connection there. And the app comes just days before Apple's upcoming October 18 event, which will be a potential venue for Apple and Sony to announce that the app is coming to the PS5.

However, that means Spotify isn't the only music app on Sony's platform. Spotify has been the music streaming option on the PS5 since its launch in November, giving users the option to listen to their favorite music while playing games. However, will Spotify's prestige also lose to Apple Music? We'd better wait for the truth later.
