JAKARTA - Twitter is launching a new feature that gives users the ability to control and delete their followers without causing any attention, including blocking them.

The feature, dubbed Soft Block, was initially tested last September, and will gradually roll out to global users. Despite the choice to make the account private, some users prefer their account to be publicly available.

However, worried because their content can be seen by unwanted people, and including one of their followers. Of course, the best way is to block the account.

Quoting Slashgear, Tuesday, October 12, but the risk is that their followers will know if they have been blocked by receiving a notification. Therefore, Twitter brings a Soft Block feature that allows users to block someone secretly.

Please note, this feature is only available via the web, and blocked accounts will not receive any notification. Chances are, the blocked account will notice it sometime later because it will no longer be able to see tweets from the account that has blocked it on the Twitter timeline.

However, they can still see it if they do it manually by searching for an account and opening a profile. Twitter itself describes the Soft Block feature as a curation feature.

This new option to secretly delete followers can be found in the same menu where you can block or mute the account. To block a follower with the Soft Block feature, go to the profile, click the follower, click the three-dot menu next to the follower, then select the Remove this follower option.

This new method from Twitter is a bit easier than the previous one, requiring users to manually block and unblock someone. This ability to remove followers gives users more control over their experience on the platform, to help curb abuse and harassment.

For information, in September, the company began testing a new Protection Mode feature that automatically blocks offending accounts temporarily, although it's unclear when that will roll out more broadly.
