JAKARTA - Exactly Tuesday, July 20, China launched its newest magnetic levitation train (maglev) capable of traveling up to 600 kilometers per hour. This train, claimed to be the fastest in the world. China's newest maglev train made its debut on the coast of Qingdao City, Shandong Province.

China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) said the latest train was developed independently in China and marked the achievement of advanced technology in the railway sector.

The Chinese state-owned company that developed the train claims that China has mastered the engineering technology of high-speed maglev trains, including in integrating several systems from production, traction power supply, rail, control, to communication.

In June 2020, the maglev train successfully underwent speed tests before starting production in the eastern coastal region of mainland China.

The technicians then equipped it with various devices on its five carriages so that it could run properly, according to the CRRC statement.

"The train series can operate with two to 10 units of carriages, each carriage can carry 100 passengers," said Ding Sansan as the project's chief engineer.

According to Sansan, the train provides the best solution in rail-based transportation systems because it has a cruising range of up to 1,500 kilometers.

"This train is suitable for overcoming the gap in speed between airplanes and high-speed trains," he said.
