Google technology company is pushing the limits of artificial intelligence again by introducing the latest feature on the Gemini app. Through this update, Gemini now produces AI-based images that are much more personal by utilizing data from users' Google Photos.
This innovation is supported by the "Personal Intelligence" system and the latest model called Nano Banana 2, which allows AI to understand user preferences, lifestyles, and the people closest to the user without the need for complex input.
AI that Understands Preferences
With this integration, users no longer need to write long descriptions to generate the desired image. Just with a simple command like "design my dream house", Gemini will automatically adjust the results based on the habits and preferences that have been learned from the Google ecosystem.
This approach marks a shift from instruction-based AI to context-based AI, where the system is able to "fill in the gaps" of information independently.
Integration with Google Photos is the Key
The main advantage of this feature lies in its ability to read labels in Google Photos. If the user has grouped family photos, friends, or even pets, Gemini can use the individual as the main subject in the resulting image.
For example, users can ask AI to "draw a charcoal sketch of me and my family on the beach", and the system will immediately use the reference from the saved photo - without having to upload it again.
Various visual styles can also be applied, ranging from oil painting to claymation, opening up a wider space for creative exploration.
Constant Control in the Hands of the User
Google is aware that AI results are not always perfect. Therefore, Gemini now comes with a "Sources" feature that allows users to see which photos are used as references.
If the results are not satisfactory, users can manually correct or choose another image. This flexibility is the key to keeping the experience feeling personal, not completely controlled by the machine.
Privacy is the main highlight
Amid concerns about personal data, Google insists that this integration is optional (opt-in). Data from Google Photos is not used to train AI models, but only as a reference when generating images.
Users can also disconnect at any time through the app's settings.
Currently, the feature is only available to certain customers in the United States, with plans to expand to more regions and platforms, including the Chrome desktop.
