10 Nakes Bully BPJS Patient Waiting for Hospital Room to Be Punished

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Health Council said that it had identified 10 health workers and medical personnel who had commented on the alleged bullying of the deceased National Health Insurance (JKN) participants on social media and would conduct further investigations.

"There are civil servants, there are PPDS, there are general practitioners, private ones, nurses are also in the private sector, dentists are also private. Well, this hospital, how we said earlier, the supervision and supervision at the location where they work is their responsibility as well," said KKI Member dr. Mohammad Syahril as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 6.

His party will conduct an investigation with professional organizations, educational institutions, health facilities, and local governments to determine the type of violation committed, whether it is a violation of ethics, professional discipline, or a violation of the law.

He said, as the investigation progressed, there was the potential to identify more health workers and medical personnel who were suspected of sending comments to the deceased JKN participants.

"Well, what is the punishment, the punishment is as regulated in the rules. There are reprimands, then continued with coaching. Coaching is various, whether he asks to follow the education again related to the ethics of each profession, then there is again with a written reprimand," he explained.

If the violations committed include medium to serious violations, he said, the sanctions given can be in the form of deactivation of the Registration Certificate (STR) for one month to three months, even the revocation of the STR. This, he said, depends on the results of the trial at the Professional Disciplinary Council (MDP).

He said, the KKI expressed concern over the alleged comments by medical and health workers, which risked degrading the dignity of patients.

"Empathy is an inseparable part of the professionalism of medical and health personnel. Therefore, respect for human dignity, including patients and their families, must always be maintained in every form of communication, both in the service environment and in the digital space," said Syahril.

He also reminded everyone to be wise and responsible in social media.

"This incident is a reminder for all medical and health personnel that digital footprints are part of professionalism. Every form of communication in the digital space reflects the noble values of professional ethics," he said.

His party is committed to upholding its role in accordance with Law 17 of 2023 concerning Health through improving the quality of services.

Previously, a JKN participant told Threads that he had not received a room for treatment even though he had been waiting for eight hours. The family and friends of the participant also reported that the patient had died.
