Bulungan Regency Government Delays the Construction of the Regent's Office Again

TANJUNG SELOR - The Bulungan Regency Government (Pemkab) has postponed the reconstruction of the main building of the Regent's Office which was burned some time ago.

In the midst of regional fiscal constraints, the government chose to prioritize the budget for programs directly related to basic public services.

The Regent of Bulungan, Syarwani. emphasized that until now there has been no decision regarding the reconstruction of the main building of the Regent's Office. Moreover, the government is still drafting the priority scale of the use of regional budgets.

"There are still many public needs that we must prioritize, especially those related to basic public services. Regional budgets must be used wisely according to the scale of priorities," said Syarwani, Thursday, August 6.

Syarwani explained that before determining the development steps, the government would conduct a technical study on the condition of the building's structure after the fire. The results of the study will be the basis for determining whether the building is sufficiently renovated or must be rebuilt.

"There must be a study on the structure of the building, whether it is enough to be renovated or must be rebuilt. After that, the budget needs will be calculated to match the financial capacity of the region," he said.

He explained, "As long as the main building cannot be used, government activities will continue to run by utilizing a number of regional apparatus organization (OPD) offices. The Regent and his staff alternately have offices at the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), the Human Resources Development and Development Agency (BKPSDM), and the Bulungan Regency District Secretariat.

Syarwani revealed that the work pattern did not interfere with the course of government and services to the community. According to him, working in a number of OPDs also makes coordination with regional devices more effective.

"With this kind of office moving, I can be closer to the regional apparatus. Communication becomes more intense so that various problems can be discussed and resolved faster," he said.

He also ensured that all regional devices were still asked to provide optimal services.

"This is done while waiting for the government's decision regarding the plan to rebuild the main building of the Bulungan Regent's Office," he said.
