JAKARTA - Minister of Creative Economy (Menkraf) Teuku Riefky Harsya said the Gameseed 2025 program was a space to raise local culture and realize superior human resources (HR) through the game as a driver of the new Indonesian economy.
According to him, this program is a tangible form of the government's commitment to be able to grow local industries that are not only entertaining but can also provide quality employment.
"Gameseed is one of the concrete efforts in realizing the creative economy as a driver of new economic growth. The hope is that apart from raising culture through games, Gameseed also creates qualified prospective workers in the creative industry," said Minister Teuku Riefky as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, October 26.
Gameseed is a routine program from the Ministry of Creative Economy and in 2025 it has entered its third year of implementation which aims to grow new talents in the field of game development and strengthen the national game industry.
In carrying out the Gameseed 2025 program, the Ministry of Creative Economy (Ekraf) collaborates with the Indonesian Game Association (AGI) and is supported by Tencent, Nuon Digital Indonesia, and Google.
A series of events have also been held starting from the roadshow in May 2025, matriculation, clock games, curation, incubation, and final pitching followed by selected game developers.
In the final pitching session, the finalists presented their games before the jury to determine the three best teams of each category (TOP 3).
This session was broadcast online and managed to attract more than 2,500 live spectators who showed high public enthusiasm for local game works.
The presence of Gameseed is also an entry point for potential game developers to get to know the industry, opportunities, and support of the creative ecosystem in Indonesia.
The President of the Indonesian Game Association (AGI), Shafiq Husein, said that Gameseed is an important forum for the growth of the national game ecosystem by fighting over the total prizes of Rp. 102 million which are given as a form of appreciation for the creativity and innovation of local game developers.
Through government support and industrial partners, we want to ensure that Indonesian talents continue to grow and have the opportunity to contribute in the game industry. We also hope that through Gameseed, new seeds can grow for young game creators and studios who will enrich the colors and future of the Indonesian game industry," said Shafiq Husein.
In line with this statement, Tencent's Country Head Level Infinite Indonesia, Agung Chaniago believes Kemenekraf support can give participants greater confidence, and help expand the network between developers and game publishers.
"Gameseed is a very good opportunity for local game developers because it provides official platforms for them to be seen not only at the national level, but also globally. They can also get strong guidance, which helps them better understand how to develop games and how different markets will accept them," said Agung Chaniago.
