Not Just Showing Name, Google Phone Can Now Show Caller's Identity

JAKARTA - Google has just released a new feature for the Google Phone application. Named Caller ID Announcement or Caller Identity Notification, this feature will notify the user of the identity of the caller when the call rings.

Previously, a similar feature could only be used by Android cellphone users through third-party application services. Usually, this feature is used to anticipate spam calls - whether from unknown numbers, online loan debt collectors, or telemarketing.

Later, when this feature begins to be released globally, those of you who use Android phones no longer need third-party applications. You see, this feature is quite capable of making life calmer.

Based on the findings of 9to5Google, there are three choices of users who will be given three customization options related to the caller identification information. Among other things, identity is informed every time there is a call, only when the user is wearing a headset, or not at all.

How to Activate the Caller Identity Notification Feature

For some users, adding this feature may not be very useful. But, no doubt, there are more users waiting for a similar feature from Google.

The reason is, other OEMs have already provided similar features through their self-developed UI operating system. It's just that, now that the Google Phone application is available on all Android phones, and is set as the main phone application, this addition is certainly worthy of appreciation.

Now, to activate this new feature, you can do it via the Google Phone application settings. To do this, open the application, then tap the Settings menu. Then tap the Caller ID announcement menu.

Choose one of the three types of settings as mentioned above. Namely 'Always' or always on, 'Only when using a headset' or active only when using a headset, and 'Never'.

Combined with a menu of blocking calls from unknown numbers, this feature will help users to avoid calls from unknown numbers.

In addition, the Caller ID announcement feature can also make users more comfortable while listening to music via headphones. When there is an incoming call, you can determine the attitude based on the identity of the user on the screen.

Unfortunately, it is still unknown when Google will roll out this feature globally. You see, the Caller ID feature is only available for Pixel smartphone owners in the United States.
