Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, World's Fastest Mobile Processor

JAKARTA Qualcomm Technologies officially launched the most advanced processor for mobile platforms. The system-on-a-Chip (SoC) that the company launched was Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

The world's fastest claimed processor for this mobile platform brings a number of improvements over previous generations. This increase includes faster multi-tasking performance and smoother inter-app transitions.

"With the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, you are at the center of your mobile experience," said Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cellular Phone Qualcomm Technologies, quoted on Thursday, September 25. "(This processor) allows you to feel the future of cellular technology."

This SoC is designed to support a long game session. Qualcomm states that Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 offers much more optimal gaming performance, but without compromising power efficiency capabilities.

One of the flagship features of this processor is the ability to personalize AI Agentics. With this processor, assistants based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) on flagship phones can understand user habits in a sustainable manner.

This supports AI assistants to provide smart recommendations. In addition, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is also the world's first processor to support video recording with a codec Advanced Professional Video (APV).

Thanks to the embedded AI-powered camera technology, users can produce professional quality videos. The most important thing is to improve performance in various components of the processor core.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 uses the Qualcomm Oryon Gen-3 CPU which is 20 percent faster and the Qualcomm Adreno GPU with an increase in graphics performance of up to 23 percent. Qualcomm Hexagon NPU also offers an increase in speed of up to 37 percent.

Devices using the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will soon be launched by a variety of leading mobile phone manufacturers. Some manufacturers that are confirmed to adopt this processor are Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and OPPO.
