JAKARTA - Apple CEO Tim Cook has returned to the spotlight after attending a state banquet in England which was also attended by the President of the United States, Donald Trump. Cook's presence this time is considered as part of efforts to maintain Apple's relations with the Trump administration and strengthen cross-border technology cooperation.

According to a Bloomberg report, the banquet was held in England with a guest list of about 160 people, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Blackstone CEO Steve Schwarzman. This event marks Trump's second state visit, having previously attended a similar event during his first term.

Trump's main purpose in visiting the UK was to hold a number of meetings with local officials to discuss various strategic issues, ranging from Russia's continuing attacks on Ukraine to technological investment opportunities between the two countries. In his speech, Britain's King Charles III alluded to the issue of Ukraine and the environment, although the issue was not a top priority for Trump.

Tim Cook's presence is said to be more due to the request of the British government than Trump's initiative. However, for Cook, that presence remains important. Absence of such state events could be considered as a lack of loyalty to the US government while potentially damaging Apple's relations with Britain.

During the Trump administration, Cook was known to be good at maintaining relations with the White House. He often uses his approach strategy through praise, attends dinners, increases Apple's investment in the US, and provides symbolic awards. Although this step is often criticized, the results are clear: Apple is protected from tariffs that can make iPhone prices rise, can still carry out diversity initiatives (DEI), and continue environmentally friendly programs.

Although this state event is full of splendor, it is not certain whether it will bring concrete results for Apple or other technology companies. However, the Trump administration appears to have succeeded in preventing the UK from demanding access to the back door to Apple's encryption system for a while.
