JAKARTA - Microsoft announced that it will stop the autofill feature in the Microsoft Authenticator application starting July 2025, and now it has not allowed users to save new passwords.
Previously, this feature allowed users to securely store and auto-enable passwords on various applications and websites accessed via mobile phones.
Starting June 2025, you can no longer add or import new passwords into the Authenticator app. However, you can still save your password via the auto-enablement feature until July," Microsoft wrote in an announcement on its help page.
The tech giant said the move was taken as part of the company's efforts to simplify and integrate cross-device auto-enablement experiences.
Thus, users are required to switch to Microsoft Edge, Microsoft's AI-based browser that offers more complete security, including features such as Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, Password Monitor, and InPrivate search.
Once Microsoft Authenticator autofill officially closes this July, from August 2025, the stored passwords will no longer be accessible, and the generated passwords but will not be saved will be removed.

However, stored data such as passwords and addresses will still be synchronized to the user's Microsoft account, and can be accessed via Microsoft Edge to support the autofill feature.
Microsoft recommends that users immediately save passwords resulting from generator history into stored password lists before the deadline takes effect.
"To continue using the generated password, save from Generator history (which can be accessed via icon or from Password tab) to the saved password list," he concluded.
