After IPhone Supports RCS, Google Records 1 Billion RCS Messages Sent Every Day In The US!

JAKARTA - After years of waiting, Apple finally adopted RCS (Rich Communication Services) message support on the iPhone last year. The impact is extraordinary: more than 1 billion RCS messages are now sent daily in the United States, only from Android and iOS users.

Before Apple joined the RCS, this technology was actually quite popular on Android. In November 2023, Google confirmed that the Google Messages main portal for RCS on Android has more than 1 billion monthly active users.

Now in 2025, after the iPhone took part, the use of RCS has soared rapidly. According to Google, in the 28-day average period, users in the United States sent more than 1 billion RCS messages every day.

Over the past few years, we have focused on improving the way people communicate with whatever type of cellphone. That's why we encourage RCS to become the standard message on Android and iOS. Now, only in the US, there are more than 1 billion RCS messages sent every day," Google said in a statement.

With RCS support, users can now send high-quality photos and videos, join chat groups without interruption, and enjoy other modern features that were previously unavailable via conventional SMS/MMS.

Although this figure is still below the estimated 6 billion SMS/MMS messages sent daily in the US, this RCS achievement is very significant especially considering that some operators in the US still do not support RCS for the iPhone. For example, Google Fi only supports RCS on the iPhone starting last March.

This increase marks an important milestone in the evolution of digital communication, with RCS slowly but surely replacing SMS/MMS as a new standard in sending cross-device messages.
