JAKARTA India's Ministry of Finance ordered its employees not to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT and DeepSek. This order was issued to protect sensitive data.
There are many documents and confidential data stored by the government so that the use of AI tools can be very dangerous. India is not the only country to impose this limit because Australia and Italy have imposed similar restrictions.
However, the two countries only limit DeepSek due to security concerns. They don't know how DeepSek manages its users' data, where the data comes from, and for whatever reason DeepSek data will be used.
The news of the restriction of AI equipment has been confirmed directly by an adviser to the Ministry of Finance of India. This ban seems to only apply to computers and devices related to office needs in order to keep important data a secret in it.

"It has been determined that AI devices and AI applications (such as ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and others) on computers and office devices pose risks to the confidentiality of data and documents (government)," an adviser from India's Ministry of Finance said.
Letters banning the use of ChatGPT, DeepSek, and other AI tools were also confirmed original by three financial ministry officials in the country. According to the three confessions, the letter was published internally recently.
It is not known for certain whether this AI ban only appears in India's Ministry of Finance or is also issued in other ministries. Interestingly, news of the ban on AI in ministries emerged when OpenAI CEO Sam Altman visited the country.
