Google And Microsoft Donate IDR 16.1 Billion For Donald Trump's Inauguration

JAKARTA Google and Microsoft are the next companies to donate to Donald Trump. According to news circulating, these two companies provided funds for Trump's inauguration.

Just like Apple CEO Tim Cook, who donated USD 1 million (IDR 16.1 billion), Google and Microsoft also handed over funds with the same nominal.

Karan Bhatia, Head of Government Affairs and Global Public Policy, told CNBC that financial donations are not the only assistance they provide. Google also provides support in the form of live broadcast of the inauguration.

A few months ago, Trump said he would do something to Google after taking office. Trump feels that Google is a very powerful technology company, but often acts maliciously and cheats.

For example, when Trump had dozens of good stories and bad stories, the display of Donald Trump's search on Google only showed a bad story. Although it is not clear what kind of action Trump will take, it is likely that Trump's decision will harm the tech giant.

Unlike Google, Microsoft seems to often provide support in the form of donations. The company handed over funds of 500 thousand US dollars (Rp. 8 billion) at Trump's first inauguration and Rp. 16.1 billion at the inauguration of US President Joe Biden.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has also met Trump several times, including during Trump's leadership several years ago. This move shows that Microsoft wants to be in a safe position during Trump's tenure.
