JAKARTA Meta announced on Thursday, December 12 that it had released a basic model of Artificial Intelligence (AI) called Motivo. This model can control the movement of virtual humanoid agents.

Meta Motivo is trained with a new algorithm that comes from unlabeled datasets. This data forms the basis for learning strengthening without supervision towards human-like behavior learning by maintaining zero-shot capabilities.

The main technicality of the algorithm Motivo uses is to study representations for embedding status and movement into the same latent space. That way, the system can complete the entire body control task without any additional planning.

"Meta Motivo achieved competitive performance compared to special methods of duty and outperformed unsupervised reinforcement learning and a sophisticated model-based baseline, while demonstrating more human-like behavior," Meta said.

During Motivo's Meta testing, the company explained that this AI fundamental model was capable of doing quite realistic and nearly human-like movements. In addition to testing its capabilities, Meta has also tested Motivo's level of resilience.

"The model also shows a surprising level of resilience to environmental change, such as gravity, wind, or direct disruption, although it is not trained to deal with it," said Meta.

Motivo has only been one of many AI models Meta developed because the company has invested up to billions of dollars in AI, augmented reality (AR), to Metaverse technology. Its capital is expected to rise this year with a record high of between 37 US dollars (Rp590 trillion) and US$40 billion (Rp638 trillion).

Meta reveals that Motivo's development is showing positive results, especially to realize the Metaverse in the future. The hope is that this technology, which is still being developed, will provide a new and sophisticated experience.

"In the future, we believe this research could pave the way for fully tangible agents in the Metaverse, producing a more real NPC, democratizing character animation, and a new kind of deep experience," explains Meta.
