JAKARTA Apple has updated the Journal application in iOS 18 with a variety of new features, including the search and registration capabilities it has been waiting for. Since its first introduction in December 2023 with iOS 17, the Journal application has received positive responses from users, and this major update in October 2024 brought the personal journal experience to a higher level.

This update introduces an "enlarger glass" icon located at the top of the app, allowing users to search for entries based on certain criteria such as dates, moods, or certain words/calibria. You can also filter entries based on categories such as text, photos, audio, or videos, as well as categories such as "Bookmarked," "Places," and "Reflections."

For example, you can search for entry with keywords such as "Babbetball matches" and add a Video category to display entries that include video only.

Now users can use "Moment Date" to set the entry date according to the time the event occurred, different from the date the entry was written. This feature creates a chronological sequence based on real events, making navigation and recording more intuitive.

The app also includes statistics or Insights, such as word numbers per entry, locations visited, and writing frequencies for a certain period.

The iOS 18 update adds a calendar display and the ability to record audio entry directly from the app. You can also customize the text to new colors and dips, adding more personalization to journal entries.

The Journal app also supports new widgets for Home Screens and Locks that offer writing prompts, fast access to new entries, and writing power display. This feature makes it easy for quick access and documentation of any device compatible with iOS 18.
