Google Launches Real-time Fraud And Malware Detection Features

JAKARTA Google introduced two new features designed to strengthen device security. These two features are Fraud Detection on Mobile and Direct Threat Detection on Google Play Protect.

The Google product team explained that this security feature is in line with the company's mission, namely to make technology a safe bag tool for all users. Therefore, Google always builds features that protect and prioritize the privacy of its users.

"User safety is at the heart of everything we do on Google," the company said through its official website. "We are continuing to develop and expand the protection features that help keep you safe."

Fraud detection is a Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based feature developed to identify and stop any fraud before harming its users. Google deliberately made this feature because the scamming method is growing.

With AI, Fraud Detection will observe Android user conversations with callers and provide real-time warnings. For example, if a caller claims to be a bank and asks the victim to send money, Fraud detection will appear.

"The detection of Fraud will process the call to determine whether the call is likely spam and, if so, can provide audio and haptic warnings as well as a visual warning that the call may be a scam," Google explained.

Meanwhile, Direct Threat Detection on Google Play Protect will provide a real-time warning when detecting the presence of malicious applications. This feature will analyze the behavior of apps related to sensitive permits.

Direct Threat Detection will focus on stalkerware, code that can collect users' personal data or sensitive data without consent. While running this feature, Google stated that they would not collect user data.

"Detecting direct threats can now find malicious apps that are trying extra hard to hide their behavior or are inactive for some time before carrying out suspicious activities," Google said.

This Direct Threat Fraud and Detection Feature is available on Pixel 6 and later. In the coming months, these two features will also be available on other Android devices such as Lenovo, OnePlus, Nothing, and OPPO.
