JAKARTA Microsoft announced that one of the oldest applications in Windows will get Artificial Intelligence (AI) support. The application that will get the new AI-based feature is Notepad.

Since 1983, Notepad has been available on Windows as a default application. Although it has been operating for decades, this application is still widely used, Microsoft added various new features since a few months ago.

This time, Microsoft will add a feature called Rewrite. This feature has just been launched in a preview version for Windows Insiders users. Users can access Rewrite by trying version 11.2410.15.0.

Microsoft explained that Rewrite can speed up the creation of narratives by rewriting a content. Thanks to AI support, this new feature in Notepad can compile and reset the text array according to the user's preferences and needs.

"We introduce the ability to rewrite content on Notepad with the help of a generative AI. You can change sentences, adjust tones, and modify content lengths based on your preferences to perfect text," Microsoft said.

When Notepad users want to rewrite the sentences they have written, they can highlight or say the desired sentence, then right-click and select the Write option. For faster options, users can use the Ctrl + l keyboard shortcut.

After that, Notepad will display three variations of text that can be selected. If the results are not satisfactory, the user can rearrange the writing by clicking Rewriting. Later, additional text variations will be displayed on the screen.

"Rewrite on Notepad is available in preview for all Windows 11 users in the following region: the United States, France, Britain, Canada, Italy, and Germany. To use rewriting, you need to log in with your Microsoft account," explained Microsoft.
