JAKARTA - Huawei is rumored to be launching the Mate 70 smartphone series later this month, which is likely to be powered by their latest chip, Kirin 9100. Although the specifications for this SoC have not been officially announced, a Telegram user named @sektykles may have leaked some key information regarding the chip.

Notebookcheck recently found an upload on Telegram featuring screenshots from the HW Device Info application, allegedly from the Mate 70 device. In the screenshot, the Kirin 9100 specifics, which has the codename HiSilicon Baltimore and carries an 8-core CPU configuration.

Kirin 9100 remains using the ARM v8 architecture and consists of one Cortex-X1 high performance core with a speed of 2.67 GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores with a clock of 2.32 GHz for power efficiency balance, as well as four Cortex-A55 power-efficient cores with a speed of 2.02 GHz.

However, due to US sanctions against Huawei, Kirin 9100 is limited to the longer ARM v8 architecture, while rival chips such as MediaTek Dimensity 9400 have used the latest ARM v9 core.

In addition, Kirin 9100 will also be supported by the Maleoon 910 GPU made by Huawei, which is believed to be the same as in Kirin 9010. Although not the most advanced GPU, its performance is considered quite good for daily use and light gaming.

Production of Kirin 9100 is expected to use N+3 nodes from SMIC, namely the 6nm fabrication process. Even though previously it was rumored to use the 5nm process, this 6nm technology is still more efficient than the 7nm process at Kirin 9000S in Mate 60.

In terms of performance, Kirin 9100 is estimated to be between Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 8+ Gen 1. Although there has been no official benchmark result, the previous leak showed AnTuTu score was around 1.1 million, providing a competitive performance picture
