JAKARTA In a third-quarter earnings report shared on Tuesday, October 29, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Picai announced that Google Maps already has more than 2 billion monthly users.

This is a new product that has reached a milestone of 2 billion users. Previously, Google only had six products that had reached this figure, namely Search, Gmail, Android, Chrome, Google Play Store, and YouTube search engines.

These six products have used Gemini's big language model (LLM), including Google Maps. Pichai said that it deliberately integrated Gemini into its various products to, "present progress to consumers and businesses."

In line with Gemini's use, Pichai explained that Google has an ambitious roadmap related to the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI). There are several things Google has done to optimize Gemini, one of which is moving Gemini's team to Google DeepMind.

"This follows other structural changes that have united teams in research, machine learning infrastructure, and our development team, as well as security efforts and our Platform and Device teams," Pichai explained in a earnings report.

With the transfer of a team that operates the Gemini app, Google wants to move faster in developing AI. This technology is not only integrated into its various products, but is also used internally.

Pichai hopes that the development of the AI model can help Google achieve new opportunities in the future, including the manufacture of new products. The company also still has the opportunity to reach the history of 2 billion users in other products.
