Amazon Launches First Colored Kindle E-Reader After Years Of Development

JAKARTA - Amazon announced the launch of the Kindle Colorsoft, its first color e-reader, after years of development. The device comes at a price of 280 US dollars, competing with similar devices on Amazon that are sold in the range of 149 to 330 US dollars. The Colorsoft Kindle uses LED technology and other innovations to present colorful screens.

Previously, Amazon attempted to develop a colorful e-reader using the eInnk technology used on the standard Kindle, which is known to be power efficient. The Colorsoft battery lasts about eight weeks, shorter than the latest generation Kindle Paperwhite which can last up to three months.

Selain Kindle Colorsoft, Amazon juga memperkenalkan Kindle Paperwhite baru dengan layar 7 inci, sedikit lebih besar dari generasi sebelumnya, serta pembaran untuk Kindle Scribe, yang memungkinkan pengguna menulis di layar dengan stylus dan mengon convertinya menjadi textian yang lebih jelas. Fitur AI pada Kindle Scribe juga dapat mengubah catatan menjadi poin-poin penting.

Amazon still leads the e-reader market with a share of more than three-quarters. Although these devices were built to last years, Amazon claims they sell them for almost no profit, with the main advantages stemming from book sales and other reading material.

The surge in the use of e-readers occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many libraries were closed but still offered wireless e-book downloads. The Colorsoft Kindle will begin shipping on October 30, while the latest Kindle Scribe will be on December 4.
