JAKARTA - OpenAI announced that it has succeeded in raising new funding of US$6.6 billion (Rp100.7 trillion) from investors, with a post-income valuation of US$157 billion (Rp2,396 trillion).

In its official announcement, OpenAI said that the new funding will assist them in enhancing AI research and the company's computing capacity.

"This new funding will allow us to double our leadership in leading AI research, increase computing capacity, and continue to build devices that help people solve difficult problems," the company wrote behind the ChatGPT.

The funding shutdown coincided with ongoing business restructuring and changes to the company's executives, after CTO Mira Murati announced her resignation last week, followed by OpenAI Research Chief Bob McGrew, and research vice president Barret Zoph.

"We thank investors for their trust in us, and we look forward to working with partners, developers and the wider community to form an AI-backed ecosystem and future that benefits everyone," the company concluded.

The tremendous increasing popularity and valuation of OpenAI has attracted world attention. Since the launch of ChatGPT, the company has attracted 250 million weekly active users.

The company's valuation has also increased from USD 14 billion in 2021 to USD 157 billion in line with the increase in company revenue.
