JAKARTA - Access to decent health services is still a challenge in a number of areas, especially for people who rely on integrated service posts (Posyandu) as basic health facilities.

The availability of adequate facilities is considered one of the important factors so that promotional and preventive services can run optimally.

Departing from these needs, PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) revitalized the Seroja Raya Posyandu in Lumban Pea Village, Balige District, Toba Regency, North Sumatra.

This program is part of the series of celebrations for Kalbe's 60th Anniversary (HUT) as well as an effort to expand access to health services for the community.

Kalbe Consumer Health Director, Tunghadi Indra, said the revitalization of Posyandu is one form of the company's contribution in supporting sustainable health services.

"In line with Kalbe's anniversary theme, 'A Journey of Purpose, Growth, and Hope' and Kalbe's contribution for 60 years in improving access to health services, we are revitalizing the Seroja Raya Posyandu, we hope that this initiative can provide benefits that have a real and sustainable impact on the surrounding community," said Tunghadi Indra.

Before being revitalized, Posyandu Seroja Raya faced a number of limitations, ranging from access to clean water to a lack of health equipment. So far, the need for clean water has been met from the church across the Posyandu building.

Through the revitalization process which lasted about three months, the facility is now equipped with more adequate facilities to serve various age groups, ranging from mothers and children to teenagers and the elderly.

In addition to improving facilities, a number of Elvasense health screening tools for blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid, as well as blood pressure measuring devices were also donated. The presence of these equipment is expected to support the implementation of routine health checks at the community level.

This revitalization program involves various parties, including the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the Toba Regency Health Office, the Toba Regency Government, and the Association of Social Workers (IPSM).

The Social Accessibility Expert Staff of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Abdul Muis, who was present on behalf of the Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, welcomed the collaboration.

"Thank you for your tremendous support. This collaboration is in line with the President's direction through the Minister of Social Affairs to expand social, health, and economic access. Moreover, Puskesos (Social Welfare Center) and Posyandu aim to support social empowerment of the community. I hope that the people of Lumban Pea, Balige, can use it to improve the quality of health, standard of living, and community welfare," said Abdul Muis.

Appreciation was also conveyed by the Deputy Regent of Toba, Audi Murphy O. Sitorus. According to him, the existence of the revitalized Posyandu is expected to be optimally utilized by the community.

"We appreciate Kalbe's trust in us, Toba Regency and Lumbanpea Village as the location for the establishment of Posyandu by Kalbe. We are proud and determined to make the most of this opportunity. This initiative is also one of the manifestations of the Toba Mantap vision. "

In addition to inaugurating the Posyandu, Kalbe held a number of health activities with the community, such as health gymnastics, diabetes counseling, vitamin and supplement distribution, and blood sugar testing. The company also handed over 2,000 insulin to the Toba Regency Health Service as part of support for health services in the region.

"In order to celebrate Kalbe's 60th anniversary, we also carried out a number of activities related to strengthening public health access in various regions in Indonesia," concluded Tunghadi.
