OpenAI Launches Advanced Voice Mode, With More New Voices

JAKARTA - OpenAI announced the launch of Advanced Voice Mode (AVM) to all ChatGPT paid users, to be able to get more real conversations compared previously.

In its announcement on X, Advanced Voice will launch for the first time for ChatGPT Plus and Teams. Meanwhile, Enterprise subscribers may get access next week.

Advanced Voice is rolling out to all Plus and Team users in the ChatGPT app over the course of the week.

"Advanced Voice will be rolled out to all Plus and Team users on the ChatGPT app for a week," the company wrote in an X post.

As part of this launch, OpenAI designed an AVM represented by a blue animated ball, not the animated black spots OpenAI displayed when showing off the technology last May.

In addition, ChatGPT also gets five new votes that users can try: Maple, Maple, Sol, Spruce, and Vale. So, currently there are nine total ChatGPT votes including Breeze, Juniper, Cove, and Ember.

"Even though you've been patiently waiting, we've added Custom Instruction, Memory, five new sounds, and accent enhancement," the company continued.

Custom ChatGPT instructions will allow users to personalize how ChatGPT responds, and Memories, which allow ChatGPT to remember conversations for later references.

The new ChatGPT voice feature is claimed to be better at understanding accents, and the company says the conversation is also smoother and faster. In fact, it can speak in more than 50.

An OpenAI spokesperson told TechCrunch that AVMs are not yet available in some areas, including the European Union, Britain, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein.
