JAKARTA - Samsung is reportedly planning to invest US$1.8 billion or equivalent to Rp27.3 trillion to a factory in North Vietnam, to produce OLED screens for cars and other technological equipment.

The local government said the new facility would be located in the Yen Phong industrial park in the province of Bac Ninh, in eastern Hanoi and close to the Samsung electronics factory there.

This conversation regarding Samsung's investment in Vietnam occurred after a meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Director General of Samsung Vietnam Choi Joo Ho on Sunday, September 22 yesterday.

Based on information from local media, Reuters said that the governments of Bac Ninh and Samsung Display had also signed a memorandum of understanding on the same day as the meeting.

Thus, this agreement increased Samsung's total investment in Bac Ninh to US$8.3 billion (126.3 trillion), from the current US$6.5 billion (Rp98.9 trillion).

On the other hand, Samsung has recently returned to the spotlight after releasing a new ad that openly mocks Apple over the lack of design changes on the iPhone 16.

In the ad, Samsung uses elements very similar to Apple's iconic campaign, "Think Different," which was once popular in the late 1990s to early 2000s.

The reason is, the use of the word "different" clearly reminds of Apple's legendary "Think Different" advertising campaign. In addition, the font used in the ad is also very similar to Apple Garamond, the font Apple uses in the campaign from 1997 to 2002.
