IPhone 16 Series May Adopt Video Features From Android

JAKARTA - The iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to have a 4K video recording feature at 120fps, according to the latest leak. This feature is an improvement over the 4K/60fps recording contained in the previous model, such as the iPhone 15.

Several flagship Android phones, including Sony Xperia, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Vivo X100 Ultra, have offered this capability. This feature allows for more detailed slow motion video recording compared to current 1080p/240fps modes.

It is unclear whether this 4K/120fps recording will be available on all iPhone 16 Pro rear lenses. However, the iPhone 16 Pro will reportedly allow users to connect external storage to record ProRes 4K videos at 120fps, providing more flexibility in high-quality video editing.

There is also news that Apple is testing 8K video recording on the iPhone 16 Pro. However, it is not yet certain whether this feature will be present on commercial devices.

To record 8K video, a camera with a minimum resolution of 33MP is needed, which allows this feature to be used on the 48MP main camera and 48MP ultrawide lens which is expected to be present on the iPhone 16 Pro.

Although 8K video recording has been on several Android phones since 2020, this feature is still not fully required in 2024. However, the advantage is that users can cut the video in more detail after recording. Samsung even offers an 8K Snap Video feature that allows users to take the 33MP frame from an 8K video clip, similar to the burst photo mode.

In addition, the iPhone 16 series is also reported to support JPEG-XL format, a feature to mediate and continue video recording on camera apps, removing wind noise in video, and new photography styles.
