Indonesia Aims For 20 Percent Of Digital Economy Growth In 2045, What Can Be Done?

JAKARTA - Director of Digital Economy from the Directorate General of Informatics Applications at the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Bonifasius W. Pujianto, said that Indonesia's PR (homework) in achieving the 2045 Digital Indonesia Vision is still a lot.

Where according to Boni, one way to achieve VID 2045 is with the digital economy sector providing 20 percent of Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This has a big gap, because currently the digital economy's contribution to GDP is only around 4-5 percent.

Imagine, we have homework in the next 20 years from 5 percent now, to around 20 percent. So there is a gap of 20 years, about 15 percent of the contribution from the digital economy to the GDP," said Boni at the Ngopi Bareng Kominfo event on Friday, September 6.

Thus, Boni said that to achieve this target, with four future administrations, each government period (5 years), it is necessary to increase at least four percent of the digital economy's contribution to the GDP.

Even so, Boni realized this was not easy. Because it requires contributions from all stakeholders of the digital economy in the country.

"It's not easy. Why? We have to move the entire digital-related economic stakeholder," concluded Boni.

Meanwhile, some time ago Roy Kosasih as President Director of IBM Indonesia said that the government needed to increase the value of investment in the technology industry, to achieve VID 2045.

Because when compared to Singapore, which invests 2 percent of the country's GDP, or compared to America, which invests 4 percent of the country's GDP, Indonesia only invests 0.2 percent of the country's GDP.

In fact, the value of Indonesia's investment in the technology industry is much smaller than neighboring countries, namely Vietnam and the Philippines, which invest 0.4 percent of their respective GDP.
