Bluesky Prevents Dogtiling By Launching Postside Separation Feature

JAKARTA Bluesky launched an anti-toxiness feature called Detach or Release. This new feature is considered to reduce the problem of toxicity on social media such as harassment and dogpiling or massive insults.

Through version 1.90 released on August 28, Bluesky users will see a new feature in the post quote to protect themselves. The Detach Quote feature will separate the original post from the citation post to reduce exposure to unwanted interactions.

"This helps you maintain control over the threads you start, ideally limiting dog-piling and other forms of harassment," Bluesky said on its official website. "Make sure to update your app to the latest version to access this feature."

Bluesky realized that citation posts are often used to correct disinformation circulating on the platform. There is a possibility that the Detach Quote feature is misused by users sharing misleading information.

For now, there is no solution to address the misappropriated Detach Quote. However, Bluesky plans to launch new features such as Community Records made specifically to correct disinformation on its platform.

Bluesky explains that the way Detach Quote works is the same as the block feature, which will not be displayed in the app. Users can only use this post separation feature if they have the ability to access the data.

"The Bluesky app will not list all post citation deletions directly on your posts, but developers with knowledge of the Bluesky API will be able to access this data," Bluesky said.
