JAKARTA Schneider Electric, a technology company in energy management and digital automation, reaffirms its commitment to supporting sustainability through electrification to automation.

Through the 4.0 Conference and Expo 2024 event which was held on August 27 and 28, Schneider explained their journey to achieve net-zero. Not only that, Schneider also highlighted the increase in energy efficiency through their technological solutions.

According to Schneider, digitalization and energy efficiency are important components to achieve sustainability strategies. Electrification is also important to implement because it encourages decarbonization, a designation for the process of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions and carbon dioxide.

Schneider Electric is still trying to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. To achieve this goal, Schneider made the short-term goal expected to be achieved by 2025, which is to increase green revenue by 80 percent.

Schneider Electric is also targeting a reduction in carbon emissions of up to 800 million metric tons from its customers, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 50 percent from a thousand main suppliers, using 50 percent of environmentally friendly materials, and others.

"In addition, the company is also focused on increasing gender diversity, providing access to environmentally friendly electricity for 50 million people, as well as training for one million people in energy management," Schneider said in a press release that VOI received.

Another sustainability effort from Schneider is the use of technological solutions in smart factory in Batam and Cikarang. The company has implemented solutions such as EcoStruxure, an open architecture supported by the Internet of Things (IoT).

Thanks to this solution, Schneider managed to reduce waste costs by 40 percent and increase energy efficiency by 20 percent. Schneider also installed solar panels that present 224 MWh per year or equivalent to 21.6 percent of total electricity consumption.

"With this action, Schneider Electric managed to reduce CO2 (carbon dioxide) from its operations by 164 total carbon dioxide (TCO2), and save 6.4 percent of electricity costs," Schneider said.
