The "Sign In With Apple" Feature Available On Several Deepfake Nudes Sites

JAKARTA - The "Sign in with Apple" feature launched in 2019 as a faster, more convenient, and privacy-focused way to register on apps or websites, turns out to be available on some deepfake sites featuring non-consensual images. The findings were reported by Wired, who found that six of the largest deepfake sites focused on creating fake nude images offer login options with Apple.

Deepfake is an image, audio, or video produced by artificial intelligence (AI) where someone who has actually been digitally changed. This technology can be used for various unpleasant purposes, from making a politician appear to say controversial things to creating fake nude images of someone to embarrass or intimidate them. With the increasingly sophisticated deepfake software, the detection of these images becomes increasingly difficult.

Apart from Apple, Wired also found that some of these deepfake sites use login options from Google, Discord, Line, and Patreon. The provision of these login options appears to be used to create a sense of legitimacy and increase the credibility of these sites, although they are actually used for suspicious purposes.

Wired also reported that the 16 largest deepfake sites offer login with Google, 13 with Discord, and 6 with Apple. However, after Wired contacted Apple about this, the company immediately responded by deleting all developer accounts involved in abusing the "Sign in with Apple" feature.

The same thing was done by Discord, while Google stated it would take action against developers who violated their provisions. Patreon also stated that it prohibits accounts that allow explicit image creation, and Line said it was conducting an investigation, although it did not provide further comment on specific sites.

This report shows how important it is for technology companies to continue to monitor and ensure that their features are not misused by irresponsible parties.
