ESG 2024 Report: Lazada Group Successfully Reduces 40 Percent Of Green Gas Emissions

JAKARTA Lazada released an annual report related to the environmental, social, and Governance (ESG) impacts for the financial year 2024. In the report, it was noted that Lazada's carbon emissions managed to decline. The internal carbon data collection platform that tracks and monitors the Lazada Group's greenhouse gas emissions has fallen by 40 percent from the previous year. According to Lazada, this decrease in greenhouse gas is part of the company's commitment. "This third edition of the ESG Impact Report continues to prove our commitment to making a positive impact on the environment and key stakeholders in the wider e-commerce ecosystem," said Chief Executive Officer Lazada Group James Dong. James added that the reduction in kabron emissions will bring positive results in the future, in particular for the environment. In the future Lazada will continue to focus on improving economic well-being without ignoring sustainable development. Another commitment that Lazada shows in managing the environment is to provide logistics initiatives. Since late last year, Lazada, located in Thailand, launched an environmentally friendly logistics center to reduce unwanted impacts.

This logistics center focuses on three strategies, namely the use of solar power, electric motorcycles, to the provision of uniforms for goods delivery partners made from recycled PET plastic bottles. So far, 20 percent of the electricity needs in these facilities have been replaced by solar power. Gladys Chun, General Counsel Lazada Group, explained that this report is a form of Lazada's responsibility for the environment. According to Gladys, Lazada needs to implement transparency and accountability related to the company's achievements. "We are proud of the achievements that have been realized in the journey, as we take steps to continue to contribute positively and significantly to the wider e-commerce ecosystem, Lazada's serviced community, as well as the environment," said Gladys.
