Google Collaborates With Australia To Develop Cyber Protection Equipment

JAKARTA Google announced that it will partner with Australia's National Science Agency to develop tools that can protect critical infrastructure. This tool will prevent cyber attacks. Information about this tool is still limited. Google only explains that the digital equipment they develop will detect and fix problems in software automatically. This equipment is intentionally made because cyberattacks are increasing. There are several sectors that are thought to have important infrastructure, namely hospitals, defense agencies, and energy suppliers. The software in these three sectors will use cyber protection tools that are tailored to regulations in Australia. "The vulnerability of the software supply chain is a global problem, and Australia has taken the lead in legislative measures to control and combat those risks," said Stefan Avgoustakis, Head of Google Cloud Security Practices in Australia and New Zealand.

Through this partnership, Google will pair a database on open source vulnerability and artificial intelligence (AI) services. This database uses research methods from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). Google says that this collaboration is part of their commitments made in 2021. The company spent 675 million US dollars (Rp10 trillion) in Australia as the country made stricter regulations for technology companies. CSIRO explained that the cybersecurity software developed directly in Australia would bring benefits. This software can be adjusted to local regulations so that the government believes better in its technology.
