JAKARTA At the I/O conference last May, Google promised the launch of the Device Detection Lock feature and the Online Device Lock to lock the stolen device. Now, one of its features is being tested. Quoted from the X account of Mishaal Rahman via Android Police, the Device Detection Lock feature is conducting the first test in Brazil. This country was chosen because the phone theft rate there is so high that this feature is expected to help. The Device Detection Key Feature will be automatically activated when the device detects attempted theft. The system will immediately lock the device and users can protect all their data by locking or deleting its data remotely. With Artificial Intelligence (AI) support, Google wants to improve privacy and security across Android devices. For now, the Device Detection Lock feature is only available on Android 15 so not all devices will get this capability.

However, from the news circulating, Google plans to expand this feature to more devices. The company will add Device Detection Locks to Android 10 and later via Google Play updates. It is not yet known if this feature will be available immediately when Android 15 is released. Device Detection Locks still need to be tested in other countries, including in the US. Usually, once this feature is tested in the US and several other countries, this feature will only be available globally.
