Xiaomi 15 Ultra Coming With Quad Camera And Periscope 200MP

JAKARTA - Xiaomi will soon release the Xiaomi 15 Series in China in October, but the most anticipated flagship, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, will only launch next year in the first quarter. After Xiaomi 14 Ultra's success, known as the smartphone with the best photography capabilities, many are looking forward to what innovation Xiaomi 15 Ultra will offer.

Recently, Ice Universe on X (formerly Twitter) revealed that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will use a 200MP periscope camera with 4.x optical magnification. The telescope is similar to the one used on the Vivo X100 Ultra, but Xiaomi has an advantage in terms of higher focal length. The 200MP sensor used is estimated to be a 1/1.4-inch HP9 sensor from Samsung, which allows good low-luminosity photo-taking at high magnification.

With advanced cropping sensor technology, Xiaomi 15 Ultra is capable of producing photos with 10x-12x magnification without losing quality. This Zoom will also be supported by Xiaomi Ultra Zoom AI 2.0 for ultralong magnification. With more advanced generative AI models, details at higher zoom levels can be recovered without much quality loss.

This smartphone will also be equipped with a Quad Camera system that includes a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch stepless variable opening, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP floating telephoto camera with 3.x optical magnification, and a 50MP periscope camera with 7x optical magnification. All of these cameras will be developed with Leica, which shows Xiaomi's focus on improving image quality at each zoom level.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be launched for the first time in China in February 2025, and will be introduced globally at the MWC Barcelona event in the same month. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will also be launched in India, so keep an eye on it for more information.
