Kominfo Closes 32 Sites That Provide Credit Conversion Services For Online Gambling

Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that Kominfo has succeeded in closing access to 32 sites that provide credit conversion services to rupiah related to online gambling.

"The blocking will be carried out starting today. We do not tolerate it and all parties must unite in eradicating online gambling," said the Minister of Communication and Information, quoted on Friday, August 9.

Budi also emphasized that the action taken was taken to prevent and limit the space for online gambling activities in Indonesia. Moreover, currently many transaction models include through credit.

As for the 32 PSEs whose access was closed, Kominfo only found 1 registered PSE, namely Boss Pulsa. Meanwhile, 31 other PSEs were not registered. Here are 31 unregistered PSEs:

The closure of access to 31 PSE is in accordance with Article 6 PP Number 71 of 2019. Where the 31 PSE do not carry out the obligation to register as a PSE that provides, manages, and/or operates offers and/or trade in goods and/or direct services.

According to Budi, online gambling has a huge impact on small communities. With this closure of access, he hopes to reduce the economic and social impacts that will be experienced by the community.

Previously, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics had also asked cellular telecommunications service providers to limit inter-gawai credit transfers. The maximum daily pulse delivery is IDR 1 million.
