JAKARTA After designing read receipts early last year on the Rich Communication Services (RCS) service, Google Messages is now updating its read receipt view again. Currently, the RCS service uses four receipt statuses, namely a timer icon or time controller showing that the message is being sent to another user and a one-check icon showing that the message has been sent. In addition, there is a two-check sign showing that the message sent has entered the receiver device and a two-colored tick mark showing that the recipient of the message has read its message. All four icons are still used in testing found 9to5google, only the placement of the icon has changed. Previously, the entire status icon was at the bottom and flanked by time as well as the encryption key icon.

However, in Google's ongoing testing, this icon is in the message bubble and is right next to the text. The two-colored tick icon also underwent a change, from the previous green to blue. With this new change, the RCS service on Google Messages only displays time captions and encryption key icons under the message bubble. Reading receipts will appear in previous messages after Google Messages implemented these changes. It is not yet known when the read receipt status display will be released in a stable version to all users. This change is also recently seen by a small number of users who use Google Messages for the testing version.
