JAKARTA - Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX, announced plans to move SpaceX headquarters from facilitation, California to Texas. The announcement was made via a tweet from Musk on Tuesday, July 16.

Musk stated that this decision was taken in response to a new California law banning local governments from forcing teachers to notify parents if their children were to change gender identity in schools.

"This is the final point. Because of this law and many others that preceded it, attacking both family and company, SpaceX will move its headquarters fromwaki, California, to Starbase, Texas," Musk wrote on Twitter on Tuesday, referring to a tweet from technology investor Jason Calacanis and LibsofTok's account.

In a follow-up tweet, Musk explained that his social media company, X, will also move to Austin.

"I have had enough to avoid dangerous drug addict gangs just to get in and out of the building," Musk wrote.

The California law that angered Musk, AB 1955, was passed by a Democratic-controlled legislature last month and is a response to local school districts in California, including Chino Valley and Temecula, which have imposed rules requiring teachers to notify parents when their children make social transitions by changing names or pronouns in schools.

The bill was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday 15 July, and has sparked the anger of anti-trans groups on X, Musk's social media site.

Member of the Panel Chris Ward, a Democrat from San Diego, who drafted the bill, told the LA Times that teachers shouldn't be "gender police."

"Political-motivated attacks on the rights, security and dignity of transgender youth, non-binary, and other LGBTQ+ are increasing across the country, including in California," Ward told the newspaper. "As a parent, I urge all parents to talk to their children, listen to them, and love them unconditionally."

However, groups such as Musk are outraged, claiming that schools are currently "doctrating children" with "radical gender ideology", as a Center for American Liberty spokesman ironically disclosed to the LA Times. It should be noted that Musk is known to have a strained relationship with his eldest son, who reportedly had a conflict with Musk after he revealed himself as transgender.

It is not yet clear what the impact of moving headquarters from Myr to the company's business relationship. Southern California is an important home for defense contractors with companies such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Raytheon that have long existed in the region.

However, this isn't the first time Musk has moved his company to Texas. This billionaire moved Tesla from Palo Alto, California to Austin in 2021 and even moved his private residence to the state.
