JAKARTA - Android 15 is in full development, with several beta builds already released. Currently, Android 15 has entered the platform's stability phase, which is the last phase before its release to the public.

Google announced Android 15 at a Google I/O developer conference in May. Xiaomi is one of the early brands participating in this beta program. As of this writing, Android 15 beta is available for Xiaomi 14T, Xiaomi 13T Pro, and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4, with more devices to add to the list in the coming weeks and months.

The initial Build has revealed many new and exciting features that come on Android 15, making people wait enthusiastically for its stable release. While this is an interesting update, it will be the last OS update for many Xiaomi devices.

This is an unofficial list that we compiled by analyzing software update policies for each of Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco devices.

Xiaomi usually offers a maximum of three Android updates for its flagship phones. However, the latest models, including the Xiaomi 14 and 13T series, come with the promise of four OS updates.

Not only flagship models, newer mid-range phones, including the Redmi Note 13 series, also get an additional one year of Android updates, while previous models got a maximum of two updates.

Like Redmi phones, Xiaomi has offered a maximum of two OS updates to Poco phones. However, the latest models such as Poco X6, X6 Pro, and M6 Pro 4G, were promised three years of Android updates.

Extended software support for newer Xiaomi phones sounds interesting, but the brand is still lagging behind competitors, such as Samsung and Google, which now offer seven Android updates.

When Will Xiaomi Start Launching Android 15?

Android 15's official timeline is similar to last year's Android. So, naturally, you'll expect this new OS to be released around the same time last year in October. However, Google seems to be in a hurry this time.

The Made by Google event, where the company displays new hardware, usually takes place in October, but this year it will be held in August. As previously required by the leak, the website officially confirmed the launch of the Pixel 9 series at this event.

The upcoming Pixel model is expected to run Android 15 directly from the box. This means the stable version of this new OS can be released in August. The worst case was in October.

Android 15 has many new features and improvements. Here are some of the most important:

Satellite Connectivity Support

Android 15 "expands platform support for satellite connectivity." It provides support for the original SMS, MMS, and RCS apps to use satellite connectivity to send and receive messages. This OS also adds some UI elements to ensure a consistent user experience.

All Android 15 phones may not support satellite connectivity as they may require dedicated chips and operator support.

Private Space

Private space is an additional privacy-focused in Android 15 that allows users to protect apps and files from peeking eyes. It uses different Google accounts, and you can use different keys for better protection.

Files/applications that you download and use in private space are not visible to other users.

The Key To Detection Of Theft

Google recently launched a Find My Device network to help users find lost Android devices. It uses a crowdsourced network of more than one billion Android devices. It was also launched for older Android phones, but Android 15 took it to the next level by adding a Theft Detection Key.

The New Theft Detection Key Feature automatically locks the device when someone grabs your phone and runs away. This is done by detecting the movement automatically. The best part is that the device must log into the same Google account after factory reset.

App Pairs

Android 15 will allow you to save a combination of your favorite apps for split screen mode. An icon is created for this that displays both apps. This is a time-saving feature for people who spend most of their time doing multitasking in split screen mode.

Share Partial Screens

This Android 15 feature allows you to share or record just one app, not the whole screen. The previous Android version recorded everything that appeared on your screen, such as notifications, reminders, etc., most of us don't want anyone else to see it. Therefore, this is a useful addition to privacy in this new OS.

Application Archives

Similar to the offline app on the iPhone, Android 15 will allow users to delete unnecessary applications while still saving user data. There will be no data loss; you can continue from last place after installing/rearching the app.

Android already has app filings through the Google Play Store. This means you can only archive and recover the app via the Google Play Store. However, Android 15 integrates this feature at the OS level, allowing users to archive/restore the app, even those installed outside the Google Play Store.

High Quality Webcam

Android 15 dramatically improves the quality of output videos when you use Android smartphones as a webcam for your computer. A new "HQ" symbol will appear in the webcam camera preview to enable high-quality webcams. This disables power optimization to improve video quality.
