JAKARTA - In his latest study entitled The portrait of the modern Information Security professional, Kaspersky reviewed topics on business reasons for the global shortage of cybersecurity experts.

The study says that companies invest in large amounts to improve the skills of cybersecurity teams, where 43 percent of organizations claim to spend between 100,000 and 200,000 US dollars (Rp1.57-3.15 billion) per year on information security courses.

While 31 percent even invested more than 200,000 US dollars (Rp3.15 billion) in training programs, and the remaining 26 percent stated that they usually pay less than US$100,000 (Rp1.57 billion).

With a growing threat landscape, the business world must continue to improve the skills of their cybersecurity personnel to be ready to face advanced cyberattacks, said Veniamin Levtsov, VP, Corporate Business Skills Center at Kaspersky.

However, this study also revealed that 39 percent of cybersecurity professionals argue that corporate training alone is not enough.

To stay competitive in the market and continue to renew their knowledge and skills, they are willing to pay for additional training courses with their own money.

Meanwhile, 47 percent of respondents also stated that training participants tended to forget what was learned because they did not have the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained, so the course did not provide significant benefits.
