JAKARTA - China has confirmed its position as a leader in rail infrastructure with the world's fastest rail network of 35.000 kilometers in 2019, according to a China Central Television Station report. The distance is more than two-thirds of the world's total rail network.

The country's total rail coverage reaches 139,000 kilometers, enough to circle the Earth three times along the equator.

China is making a massive investment in the construction of its fire train system. The plan is to spend no less than 2.8 trillion yuan (Rp 6.1 quadrillion) to build no less than 23,000 kilometers of new rail lines between 2016 and 2020, according to the government's plan. Xinhua News Agency reported that Beijing completed its biggest investment in rail construction between 2013 and 2017.

Nearly 30,000 kilometers of lines, more than half of which are high-speed rail lines, completed at a total cost of 3.9 trillion yuan (Rp8.5 quadrillion).

The country's newest high-speed rail model is 'Fuxing', or 'Rejuvention', which operates at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The model before 'Fuxing' is called 'Hexie', which means harmony.
