JAKARTA Qualcomm Technologies will launch the Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System, an innovation that combines 5G modems and radio frequency systems (RFs), in the second half of this year.

Snapdragon X80 is an upgrade to the previous generation of modem-RF systems, namely Snapdragon X75. Although both use 5G modem, Snapdragon X80 offers a better solution with the seventh generation 5G modem-to-antenna.

Durga Malladi, Secretary Vice President and General Manager of Technology Planning and Edge SolutionsQualcomm Technologies, said that Snapdragon X80 supports a smart era of computing. This 5G modem can be used in various sectors.

In addition to offering strong connectivity, Qualcomm also adds Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in Snapdragon X80. This modem-RF system is integrated into dedicated AI processors and 5G-Advanced-Ready architectures.

5G Advanced is the next phase of 5G connectivity. This network architecture is supported by fully integrated NB-NTN satellite communication and is the first 5G modem to gain satellite network support.

With the support of 5G Advanced, Snapdragon X80 presents a 6-antenna architecture for smartphones, 6X device aggregation, and an AI-based mmWave coverage expansion for fixed wireless access Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).

The combination between AI and advanced architectures is able to increase the efficiency of data speed, latency, quality of service (QoS), coverage, location accuracy, spectral efficiency, power efficiency, and multi-antenna management.
