JAKARTA - Meta Quest, Meta's virtual headsetreality (VR), has been designed for Android devices since its first launch. Now, Meta plans to bring Quest support on iOS.

This plan came to light after one of the users of platform X, Joel Basson, complained about the minimal features on Quest. The device also does not support entertainment applications such as Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video.

This shortcoming can still be covered with the Cast feature or Transmission to the device with the Android operating system (OS). Unfortunately, Quest does not support the AirPlay feature so iOS users cannot do the mirroring system.

According to Basson, it would be better if Meta added AirPlay support to Quest. With this feature, Meta's flight hours will be much better and the device can attract more subscribers.

Vice President of VR Meta, Mark Rabkin, responded to Basson's tweet. Rabkin said that Meta really wanted to add AirPlay support and they were waiting for permission. We ask for Apple's permission to Quest be the recipient of AirPlay.

This is a good move as Apple launched Vision Pro in early February. If Meta manages to add AirPlay support to Quest, the device could be one step ahead of Vision Pro.

However, adding AirPlay to the Quest may not be easy. Apple may consider the losses they will get if they meet Meta's demand, one of which is losing subscribers to Vision Pro.
