IPhone 17 Pro Max Reportedly Thicker Than IPhone 16 Pro Max, Bigger Battery?

A recent leak reveals that the iPhone 17 Pro Max is likely to be thicker than its predecessor, the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The quite famous leaker, Ice Universe, shared information that the device will have a thickness of 8.725 mm, an increase from 8.25 mm in the previous model.

Although the increase is less than 0.5 mm, this change is estimated to be related to a larger battery capacity. Assuming all additional space is used for batteries, the capacity could increase by around 400 mAh, or about 8% larger than the one on the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

However, there is no certainty whether this increase will have a direct impact on battery life. This depends on how much power consumption this new device needs, especially with the possibility of increasing screen specifications, chipsets, and other features.

This leak also mentions that the entire iPhone 17, including the standard model, will get a ProMotion screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. If true, this will be the first time Apple has brought high refresh rate technology to all iPhone models, not just Pro variants.

Apart from the iPhone 17 Pro Max, another rumor says that Apple is preparing a new, much thinner model, the iPhone 17 Air. This device is expected to come along with other iPhone 17 lines in September 2025.

Apple is expected to introduce the entire iPhone 17 series at their annual event in September 2025. As more and more leaks emerge, Apple fans are certainly looking forward to what innovations will be brought to this latest iPhone generation
