True Anomaly Will Launch Jackal Satellite With SpaceX Rideshare Service

JAKARTA True Anomaly, a company in the space security sector, announced that it is ready to launch Jackal, an autonomous orbital vehicle (AOV) for the US military market and intelligence.

The company said the vehicle had arrived at the Vandenberg Space Force Base. They will complete functional testing, refueling, and installing the Falcon 9 Rideshare plate, a service fromSpaceX.

After the plate testing and installation process has been completed, Jackal will launch on SpaceX's tenth Transporter mission. Although the specific date has not yet been released, this vehicle is planned to launch no later than March.

Director of Spacecraft Development True Anomaly, Sean Ozdemir, said he was proud of Jackal's current readiness. The reason is, True Anomaly managed to build the vehicle in less than 18 months.

"I am very proud of this team (which built Jackal), which has reached this milestone and hopes to immediately validate our capabilities in orbit," Ozdemir said in a company release some time ago.

Meanwhile, the CEO and Co-Founder of True Anomaly, Even Rogers, said that his company was capable of designing an attractable system, a designation for a new class of drones. According to Rogers, Jackal is suitable for national security missions.

This is a new class of space vehicles, created specifically for national security space missions. It was designed for operators, by operators partnering with world-class engineers. I am proud of the team that designed it," Rogers said.

Jackal will start an important mission once it arrives in orbit. As Mission X, Jackal will capture high-resolution images and videos with full movement at close range. This activity is referred to as a rendezvous and proxy (RPO) operation.

The purpose of Mission X is only three, namely demonstrating RPOs for non-Earth testing, testing and evaluation of Jackal at the advanced level, and special training as requested. If all three succeed, Jackal is ready to be commercially operated.
