GSR Recruits Former JPMorgan Executive To Strengthen Crypto Business

JAKARTA - GSR, a company engaged in trading and emerging markets for crypto assets, announced the recruitment of Andreas Koukorinis, a former JPMorgan executive, as their new Head of Trade. Koukorinis is a figure who has extensive experience in the crypto world, both as a startup founder and as an investor.

Koukorinis has served as Global Head of JPMorgan for credit and electronic trading at fixed income as well as ETF commodities, one of the investment products popular on financial markets. However, he also has a great interest in crypto assets, which he realized by setting up a sports betting startup that uses blockchain technology. The startup was later acquired by Blockchain.com, one of the leading crypto platforms, in 2018.

Koukorinis is not alone in moving from the traditional banking world to the crypto asset industry. According to data from Bitget, one of Asia's largest crypto exchanges, a third of their job applicants comes from the traditional banking sector. Their main reason for switching is higher salaries and crypto-sector innovations, which offer new opportunities and challenges.

By joining the GSR, Koukorinis will be responsible for developing an optimal crypto asset trading strategy and managing an experienced trading team. Koukorinis said he was interested in blue-chip crypto assets, namely crypto assets that have a high market and reputation capitalization, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance Coin.
