JAKARTA - Google is starting to add a new generative AI tool to Maps, which allows users to talk to apps to find places around you.

"It's enough to say what you're looking for and our big language model (LLM) will analyze Maps' detailed information about more than 250 million places and reliable insights from our community," wrotetta Daniel, Vice President & GM, Google Maps in its latest announcement.

Easy, say you're on vacation to Malaysia, then talk to the app about what place you're looking for, like a place with a vintage feel. Then, Google will start providing recommendations for places that suit your wishes.

"You'll see the results arranged into useful categories, such as clothing stores, vinyl stores, and the stock market along with the photo carousel and a summary of the reviews highlighting why somewhere you might be interesting to visit," he added.

But unfortunately, this feature appears to be still in early access and is only available for certain areas and for certain Local Guides members, but the use of this technology is quite interesting to look forward to.

This experimental ability introduces a new way for people to more easily find a place and explore the world with Maps, Google explained further.

"This is just the beginning of the way we improve Maps with a generating AI, and we are excited to start with the enthusiastic Local Guides community as we come together to shape Maps' future," he concluded.
