Axiom Space Tests Space Clothing For Artemis Mission

JAKARTA Artemism is a very important mission for the United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA). Apart from technology, its spacesuits must also be considered.

Therefore, NASA entrusted the clothes of the Artemis astronaut toAxiom Space, a space infrastructure developer that has been established since 2016. The private company is working on developing a sturdy spacesuit.

As long as the body shield is made, Axiom continues to carry out testing to find out if their design of clothes can survive in space. This test is carried out actively at NASA's Buoyancy Laboratory Neutral facility.

The facility contains a large swimming pool to simulate the environment with partial gravity. In that room, Axiom Space will determine whether their astronaut shirt design is effective and is in accordance with safety requirements.

The manufacture and testing for these astronaut clothes will take quite some time. The reason is, Axiom Space must ensure that the clothes they make can protect astronauts from a dusty lunar environment.

In addition to its strong protection, astronaut clothes should not limit mobility because astronauts must walk in these clothes. To package the astronaut's clothes optimally, Axiom has been partnering with Prada since last year.

Prada will focus on the outer part of the sturdy clothing from dust, while Axiom is responsible for its design, development, qualification, certification, and production. With this collaboration, the Artemis astronaut shirt is expected to work well.
